Workshop on Supporting Diversity in Systems Research (Diversity '08)

December 7, 2008, San Diego, CA

Overview

The first Workshop on Supporting Diversity in Systems Research is a community-building event, serving both to educate women and under-represented minorities about the opportunities in systems research and to support researchers who are already working in the field. The workshop will include a range of panel sessions and presentations by leading researchers from academia and industrial labs. The program will focus on information and advice specific to systems research, covering topics in crafting a successful research career, from identifying important problems to building a successful career in academia or in an industrial research lab. Presentations will target early-career researchers and under-represented minority and women students at the graduate and senior undergraduate levels who have interests in systems research. The workshop will also serve as a friendly networking opportunity for members of the community to meet each other before attending the OSDI '08 conference.
